Meta4 Business Coaching Ltd
…is a phrase I hear on a regular basis.
Small business owners who come to me with feelings of lack of control and structure in their business, the conversation around business growth always starts here; my marketing isn’t working; no one’s engaging with it and I’m not sure what to talk about anymore…
“Marketing is really just about sharing your passion” - Michael Hyatt
It’s no surprise to find that when you’re feeling out of control in your business and you’re not attracting the clients you really want to be working with, that your passion for marketing goes out of the window too.
The more disenfranchised you feel in your business the more your marketing message goes off track – you start to widen your audience which in turn dilutes your message.
You lack inspiration in who you’re delivering to and with that comes a half-hearted approach to your strategy (if there’s a strategy in place at all).
You keep plugging away, but the consistency goes, when in fact you realise you haven’t sent a newsletter out in months and don’t even get me started on social media posting!
Meanwhile, you haven’t attracted any new clients for months; your whole business is starting to feel stale and you are weighed down by stress and overwhelm.
Time to Get Inspired!
The inspiration will feel far away at this point; however, it is closer than you think, I promise!
Experience has shown that whilst coaching many creative business owners who are brilliant at what they do, delivering innovative, exciting and refreshing work for their clients but more often than not, get stuck in the ‘but-why-can’t-I-deliver-for-my-own-business’ headspace.
Remember a great hairdresser can’t give themselves a good haircut.
For one client in particular, let’s call her Phyllis (!), this is where she was stuck.
Too much time and energy were spent beating herself up over ‘I should’s…’
Break this pattern of thought and get more focused and productive with your time and energy instead.
Change this mindset to ‘If I were feeling more creative for my business, what would that look like?’ and ‘What am I aiming to achieve with my marketing?’
What does a successful marketing outcome look like for you and your small business?
Get back into a creative and fun way of working with a sense of ease.
Do whatever it takes to get you and your business back in love with marketing and business development activities. Like a client of mine has just said to me: "I just want to be spending all my time now on business development!" – Proud mamma!
Clare Whalley celebrated 10 years in business in 2017. A great milestone to achieve. She graduated with an International degree in English and Education and went into corporate life to pursue a career outside of teaching. Successfully passing a rigorous graduate scheme into a blue-chip company; working in several positions across team management, customer service and sales roles. A working trip to India helped her decide to resign, retrain and set up her own coaching and training business. Clare now lives in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham with her two young children, Isabelle and James and her husband Rob. Clare works with fellow business owners to help them create a business they love too. She uses strategies and tools which will help business owners get to the clients they love to work with, with more consistency and ease.
