Running a successful business is much like being a proud homeowner; you will always be titivating, investing and tweaking to make it the best it can be.
The difference is when it’s your home you are catering to your own tastes and requirements and it only impacts you if you slap on the wrong colour paint.
Whereas when you start up a business you are starting with the added pressure of catering to others needs whilst keeping your head above water.

Starting a business will probably be one of the hardest things you will ever do, this was certainly true for me.
I set up in 2007, having been married to a business owner for over 10 years so, I thought I knew what to expect.
In retrospect, I had no idea…
Yes, it’s scary, but running your own business can also be the most rewarding move you’ll ever make and - get it right - and you’ll feel happier, more fulfilled and freer than you ever would in a J.O.B.
The answer is all about finding the right formula (YES, business is a science!) which will give you this priceless balance. Setting up my business in a recession and an old-fashioned view on a ‘nice-to-have’ service like coaching, was challenging to say the least.
I had very little money to invest coupled with an attitude of ‘I must do it all on my own’ mindset, which ultimately set me up for a very few tough first years. Enter ….’Business in a Box’…. which I WISH had existed when I started out on my own.

Clare Whalley celebrated 10 years in business in 2017. A great milestone to achieve. She graduated with an International degree in English and Education and went into corporate life to pursue a career outside of teaching. Successfully passing a rigorous graduate scheme into a blue-chip company; working in several positions across team management, customer service and sales roles. A working trip to India helped her decide to resign, retrain and set up her own coaching and training business.
