Dont hate me...

Millennium Cargo

As you’re reading this, I’m on the beach in Lanzarote

The weather is hot, the food is good and the drinks are flowing. What better way to spend some R&R time with the family?

But this isn’t just another “beach brag” post, I promise.

Working in freight is a hard slog. It’s long hours, high pressure and because of the international nature of the business, the phone and email messages literally never stops, day or night!

It can be easy as a business owner to get caught up in the “hustle” mentality. Gotta work harder, gotta work longer. But that can be a big mistake.

You need time to rest and recuperate. Sure, you can work hard, but make sure you play hard too!

I meet a lot of business owners in the freight world and far too many of them tell me they never take a real break. I think that’s a big problem.

As you know, I love what I do! But I also understand that sometimes you need to switch off. To step back. To take a clear and complete break from the chaos.

It’s good for your mindset, your mental health and your business too.

I get some of my best ideas when I’m fresh back from a holiday!

Now I know, taking a break from your business is hard. You’re important. No one can do what you do.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but if you don’t have the systems and processes in place to allow you just a week or two away, then you’re business needs some work. You’re serving it, instead of it serving you.

I’ve got to go now. The beach bar is open and there’s a beer with my name on it!

Ok, so it’s just a little brag then

Catch you laters!
