Rolling With The Glen
More than two years on from the first diagnosis of COVID-19 in the UK there are new findings on an almost daily basis. From the effects during the active virus to the longer-term consequences which have come to be known as ‘Long-COVID-19/post-COVID-19 Syndrome/Prolonged COVID-19’, and how to manage them.
According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS) 2.8 per cent (1.8m) of the UK population is effected beyond the acute COVID-19 infection stage as of 3 April 2022. A rapidly increasing number of 500,000 people in just 54 days (more than 9,000 people a day).
Of those 1.8m people they report ongoing difficulties such as fatigue, shortness of breath, lack of taste/smell, cough, muscle aches and pains, joint stiffness, headache, cardiac problems, brain fog, difficulty sleeping/staying asleep, anxiety and/or changes to their ability to concentrate. Showing involvement of systems such as the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, renal, and neurological.
What is ‘Long-COVID-19/post-COVID-19 Syndrome’?
Those who are experiencing symptoms four to 12 weeks beyond the active stage of COVID-19 are diagnosed with ‘Long COVID-19’ while those with symptoms lasting 12 weeks or more are termed to have ‘post-COVID-19 Syndrome’.
Angus Mackay, a PhD student from the Brain Health Research Centre in New Zealand, reports that more than 67 per cent of 3762 international survey respondents effected by long-COVID-19 were unable to work or have reduced their work duties when surveyed. Additionally it was found that there are vast similarities of long-covid and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E/CFS) instigated by an exaggerated inflammatory response to the virus. Also cited was another study of 1,733, in which 63 per cent report to have muscle weakness and/or fatigue.
What is BEMER® and Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Therapy (PEMF)?
BEMER® (Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation) is an FDA approved Grade II medical device delivering physical vascular therapy by patented signals and rhythms. BEMER® are a key player in the magnetic therapy field. Magnetic field therapy promotes the blood flow in the microcirculation, 74 per cent of the entire vascular system.
BEMER® is a non-invasive, easy-to-apply and use targeted Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy and has been proven to have positive effects on the whole human at a cellular level. Ninety per cent of those receiving BEMER® Therapy show a significant improvement in their overall health due its ability to reach the very roots of the human body. Notably, BEMER® being widely used for pain management across the globe. Furthermore, PEMF therapy delivered by BEMER®’s Physical Vascular Therapy (PVT) shows to have ‘clinical benefits in musculoskeletal diseases’ and reducing fatigue in patients with other diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
PEMF is a form of magnetic therapy. Magnetic therapies for relieving pain, preserving beauty and healing have been around since the days of Hippocrates and has been documented since as early as 1600. PEMF is a non-invasive therapy known for its anti-inflammatory effects and for regulating Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) signalling pathways.
It is these ROS signalling pathways that are suggested to be involved in the onset of long-COVID-19 due to the exaggerated inflammatory response within multiple systems of the body – namely the cardiac, respiratory, digestive, renal, and neurological systems. Inflammation was significantly reduced by almost 25 per cent in cells inflamed by COVID-19, after daily PEMF exposure.
Does BEMER® Therapy help in the recovery/management of long-COVID-19/post-COVID-19 Syndrome?
BEMER® Therapy is known for its anti-inflammatory results, as well as its ability to regulate ROS signalling pathways. It has been evidenced that with exposure of just 10minutes daily that a significant reduction in the inflammation caused by COVID-19 by as much as 25 per cent.
Therefore, at this time, it is more than reasonable to suggest that Bio-electro-magnetic-energy-regulation (BEMER®) therapy will support those individuals with symptoms of long-COVID-19/post-COVID-19 syndrome/prolonged COVID-19 will significantly benefit from daily exposure to BEMER® therapy.
If you are currently suffering the effects of Long-COVID and you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, why not book yourself a set of BEMER appointments and feel the benefits for yourself? Appointments are available Thursdays and Fridays 10am - 7pm and Saturdays 10am - 5pm near the NEC Birmingham.
