Peddimore industrial park developer, IM Properties, has named four community organisations as ‘Social Value’ partners that will work with the firm on their social value programme.
The social value programme will provide skills and training for marginalised local people, in order for them to benefit socially and economically from the Peddimore development.
IM Properties and its supply chain partners will create paid roles, apprenticeships and work placements, in addition to organising fundraising events and doing voluntary work.
The Jericho Foundation, alongside, St Basils, The Pioneer Group and Witton Lodge, will work with IM Properties to deliver the objectives of the social value programme.
David Smith, planning director at IM Properties said: “We are delighted to be working with these four well-respected Social Value partners, who are already making a big impact in the communities they work with and can help to ensure our contributions return maximum results.”
“Our Social Value pledge at Peddimore will be on a number of levels, both time and money and everyone who works on the scheme is signing up to make a difference.”
Richard Beard, chief executive of the Jericho Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be working with IM Properties on the Peddimore development, this is a great example of how a commercial business can create a Social Value legacy from a large project, and support marginalised people to gain employment and skills that they would not normally have access to.”
“Jericho has been supporting marginalised people for over 25 years, and we look forward to seeing Peddimore go from strength to strength.”
IM Properties is partnering with Birmingham City Council for the first phase of the Peddimore employment park development in Minworth.
The development will include a new junction on the A38 and over 45,000 square metres of new industrial space.
