06 March 2019

Leading audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has appointed Peter Williams as a new VAT partner in its Birmingham office.

Peter joins RSM from Deloitte where he was a director in their indirect tax practice.

Starting his career at HMRC in 1993, he is a chartered tax adviser with over 25 years’ experience of advising a variety of businesses on VAT matters, from owner-managed and private equity backed businesses, through to some of the largest and most influential corporates in the Midlands market.

In his new role, Peter will be focused on providing advice to the corporate market in Birmingham and across the Midlands region.

Mark Taylor, RSM's regional managing partner for the central region said: 'We are delighted to welcome Peter to the team here in Birmingham. His arrival is a further boost to our already powerful and growing indirect taxes team in the region.'

Peter commented: ‘I’m delighted to have joined RSM.  It’s a great business with some of the very best advisers in the Midlands market doing amazing things for their clients. I’m really looking forward to working with Mark and my fellow partners to ensure RSM’s clients are ready for all of the changes ahead arising from Brexit, Making Tax Digital and HMRC’s increasing focus on VAT processes, reporting and non-compliance’.

Among the mid-market firms, RSM Birmingham now boasts one of the strongest indirect tax teams in the country outside of London with three partners and two directors.
