Black women in tech programme invites employers to conference

27 November 2020

A programme supporting black women in technology careers will be hosting an employer roundtable conference today, for employers and partners to engage in the programme.

The Black Codher programme team will be hosting the virtual conference today, from 2pm.

The conference aims to:

  • Raise awareness of the Black Codher bootcamp & its students
  • Showcase the current Black Codher employer partners
  • Highlight the importance of hiring Black female tech talent through key notes and panels.
  • Sign up 100 new employer partners to commit to Interview and Demo days

In August this year two Black female run Start-ups, Niyo Enterprise and Coding Black Females  started the Black Coder programme, a free six-month coding bootcamp funded by West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) for black women.

Fifty black women are half way through the 6 month programme  learning the skillset to work as Full Stack developers.

The programme received £250,000 to facilitate the bootcamp, specifically for black women who are unemployed or in low skilled employment.
