Lightbulb moment as manufacturer launches new safety technology

A manufacturing firm has launched innovative new technology that detects emergency lighting issues within occupied buildings.

Legislation requires all occupied buildings to have adequate escape lighting to allow safe exit should mains power fail.

This usually means around 10 per cent of light fittings in occupied buildings are emergency enabled.

That 's why Flick Lighting have launched VERI-FI, a wireless self-test emergency system that reduces the need of regular manual on-site checks and reports back any emergency lighting issues that occur via email notification on any tablet or PC device.

VERI-FI wirelessly communicates while monitoring the emergency lighting.

The firm says monitoring remotely will dramatically reduce business disruption, maintenance costs and carbon footprint.

The system can be monitored from anywhere in the world via web portal.

VER-FI was used on the firm 's latest project, the refurbishment of Sandwell Council 's Applewood Grove social housing.

Flick Lighting managing director Darren Bury (pictured) said: “Having worked with Sandwell Council for over 20 years, I am delighted that they have chosen Flick Lighting 's new product VERI-FI to help improve and implement their wireless emergency lighting strategy.

“It is an extremely important feature that is often overlooked. We look forward to rolling this out across Sandwell Council 's building portfolio and helping to make Sandwell a safe place to live. ”
