Wesleyan appoints NHS specialist to its board

Wesleyan, the specialist financial services mutual for doctors, dentists and teachers has appointed Dr Harpreet Sood to its board of directors.

Harpreet (pictured) is a practicing NHS GP and a board member of Health Education England.

He has expertise in utilising data and digital technologies to transform health services and advancing clinical training and workforce development.

This includes a growing portfolio of work on the clinical impact of artificial intelligence (AI).

Wesleyan chair Nathan Moss welcomed Harpreet to the board, saying: “Harpreet brings extensive and relevant experience to our Board at a time when the use of digital and big data is rapidly expanding and changing how businesses operate.

“As a practicing GP, his experience and understanding will help to ensure that we stay in-step with our medical customers and keep their needs at the forefront of our decision-making.

“He has a strong understanding of decision making at a senior level, the challenges of transformation in complex organisations and the importance of identifying the incentives to enable change.

“These skills will be extremely valuable to Wesleyan as we continue with our ambitious and far-reaching transformation programme to enhance the experience of our customers today and for the long-term. ”

Harpreet added: “Technology-enabled transformation is hugely exciting and can help tackle a range of challenges, including making services more inclusive, accessible and convenient for customers.

“I 'm looking forward to using my skills and abilities to help Wesleyan build on its heritage as a long-established financial mutual, advising on ways to ensure it can deliver its purpose of creating brighter financial futures for the professions it serves. ”

Harpreet is also an advisor to early-stage digital health companies, multinationals and VCs and was formerly Senior Advisor in Health Technology at Reckitt, a FTSE 100 company.

He co-founded the NHS Digital Academy, a programme to build leadership digital health and informatics workforce capability in England and previously sat on the board of Digital Health London, a network that supports more than 30 digital health companies.
