Webinar helps firms get set for the Games

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is leading a free online webinar to help businesses prepare for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will run between 28 July and 8 August, is set to leave a lasting legacy for Birmingham and the West Midlands for years to come, with more than a million people expected to visit the region this summer for the Games.

As the region 'gets set for the Games ', now is the perfect time for businesses to plan ahead to avoid disruption and maximise opportunities.

Taking place Thursday 19 May, this free online webinar will focus on:

  • How businesses can ready themselves for the 2022 Commonwealth Games
  • The advertising and trading restrictions that will be put in place ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games
  • The potential impact that the Games will have on the transport network and the steps businesses can take to minimise traffic disruption
  • How businesses can access the Get Set for the Games Online Hub, which provides a raft of information on how firms can prepare for the summer

  • Kirsty Guttridge, senior travel demand management officer (TfWM)
  • Paul Lankester, assistant director of regulation and enforcement, Birmingham City Council
  • Rachel Dixon, programme engagement deputy lead - Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham City Council
  • Raj Kandola, head of policy and strategic relationships, Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce

Raj Kandola said: “According to a recent study conducted by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, 93 per cent of businesses believe that the Commonwealth Games will positively impact the city.

“As such, this webinar is a fantastic opportunity for organisations across Greater Birmingham to understand how they can ready themselves for and how they may be impacted by the Games.

“From traffic disruption to advertising and trading restrictions, a raft of helpful information will be provided to delegates during the webinar, who will also have the opportunity to ask any questions that they may have. ”

The online webinar is free to attend for all businesses, and there will be to raise questions with the speakers.
