Squash legend to guest at Pride of Pakistan

12 April 2017

The Pride of Pakistan 2017 is to welcome legendary squash player Jhangir Khan and Pakistan's favourite son Iqraar ul Hassan.

Jahangir Khan is a former world no.1 professional squash player and is considered to be the greatest player in the sport’s history.

During his career he won the World Open six times and the British Open a record ten times.

From 1981 to 1986, he was unbeaten in competitive play. During that time he won 555 matches consecutively, the longest winning streak by any athlete in top-level professional sports as recorded by Guinness World Records.

Jhangir retired as a player in 1993 and served as president of the World Squash Federation from 2002 to 2008, when he became Emeritus President.

Iqraar ul Hassan is a journalist and television superstar in Pakistan.

He worked in the mainstream news industry for many years. Previously a newscaster, he now hosts a program called Sar-e-Aam where he is on the frontline in exposing Pakistan's corrupt individuals and practitioners.

The Pride of Pakistan event, at The H Suite, Icknield Port Road, Edgbaston, is taking place on Sunday 16 April from 6.30pm.

It will be hosted by comedian and TV personality Hanif Raja.

Tickets are £15 per person (£100 for a table of 10) and will include a three-course meal.
