What is BASIS?

The Birmingham and Solihull Industrial Symbiosis Project (BASIS), aims to create a diverse network of businesses across the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), with the aim of supporting their journey into becoming more resource efficient and cost-effective businesses.

HOW?

We identify materials and other resources in your business which can be used by another organisation either in the same condition or reprocessed for a different use.

WHY?

The BASIS Project provides FREE support to local businesses with the following benefits:

 Improve business profits, by reducing waste and disposal costs

 Reduce energy costs and increase the bottom line

 Identify potential funding partners and investment opportunities

 Achieve compliance, assist in obtaining environmental licences

 Verify carbon reduction and increase supply chain resilience

 Increase ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ and business reputation

Improving resource efficiency is common sense for business. Increasing waste disposal costs and growing public awareness of environmental issues means that incentives have never been greater for companies to find better ways to manage their wastes and underutilised resources.
