Tom Charman, Co-Founder and CEO, KOMPAS
Tom is disrupting the consumer space of travel with KOMPAS, by leveraging artificial intelligence and it's capabilities and applying it to the problem of personalization. He gave a TEDx talk on the 'Future of Technology' covering AI, Quantum Computing, and Biohacking, and has continued to give talks as a regularly hosted speaker by blue-chip companies to talk about the impact that emerging technologies can have on corporate companies. After being featured in international publications such as the TATA Consultancy Report of 2016, and Success Magazine, he's focused on creating a product aiming to disrupt the travel space, and create a seamless travel experience. Working in the world of technology has led him to advise the UK government, as well as reflect on proposed regulations within cutting-edge technology at the European Parliament. Most recently, he was named the Future Face of Innovation and Technology by the Greater Birmingham Chamber Of Commerce, and he has represented his country at 4 start-up world finals.
Mark Brincat, Chief Technology Officer, The Economist
Mark Brincat joined the Economist Group in 2015 as Chief Technology Officer for The Economist and has worked in the technology and media sectors for over 20 years. Mark is leading the technology and execution for the Economist Business iterating the digital product ecosystem and introducing new platforms to enable the Economist to respond to its customer needs. Economist Digital operates as a product centric cross functional organisation spanning all areas of technology that supports products including server side, native mobile applications, web software development and integration. In his role as Chief Technology Officer at the Economist, Mark is overseeing the introduction of a microservices architecture, the transformation of Economist.com and the introduction of a best of breed, cloud based marketing platform supporting the company in its digital transformation.
Previously Mark was Head of Architecture at The Telegraph Media Group and held lead enterprise architect roles within a number of organisations namely GlaxoSmithKline, Home Office and BBC Worldwide. Mark is also a TOGAF certified professional and has delivered enterprise architecture services, introducing and implementing architecture practices, tools and methods.
