Join us at this speaker breakfast to hear from Greggs on their future plans and their current partnerships helping to get veterans and ex-offenders back into employment, as part of their Fresh Start programme.
Greggs stands for great tasting, freshly prepared food that customers can trust at affordable prices. With more than 1,850 shops nationwide and serving millions customers a week, the vision is to become the customers’ favourite for food on-the-go.
Established for almost 80 years, Greggs have been on a journey to transform the business from a traditional bakery into a contemporary food on-the-go retailer, which means they’ve been busy developing their great range of freshly prepared food in line with changing food trends, improving their shops and investing in customer service so they’re now tastier than ever!
With ambitions to grow to over 2,000 shops nationwide, and ownership of their supply chain means they are in a unique position to make good, freshly prepared food accessible to everyone, ensuring that `Everyday tastes good’.
We are committed to conducting our business in a responsible manner and making a positive impact on people’s lives in the local communities that we serve. We believe in giving people a 'fresh start' and offer programmes to support ex-military, formerly long-term unemployed and people with convictions.
We know the passion and energy for work that comes from people who are given an opportunity to kick-start their careers or to turn their lives around, and have programmes in place to recruit and train accordingly - these programmes sit under the banner of 'Fresh Start'.
We provide training and work experience for people who are transitioning into work. We deliver training sessions in prisons for people who are nearing the end of a sentence and we give work experience to those who demonstrate potential. In 2017, more than 450 people benefitted from our 'Fresh Start' programme which has been recognised as an example of best practice by BITC, the Ministry of Justice and CBI.
We are also proud of our partnership with Release Scotland, established in early 2018, we look forward to driving awareness and sharing our experience as an employer to help others realise the benefits of recruiting people with convictions.
