The EU 2021 e-commerce VAT package comes into effect on the 1 July 2021 and has been designed to simplify VAT rules on the cross-border sales of goods and services to consumers in EU member states.

The new rules will bring significant changes for UK e-commerce businesses selling into the European Union and firms will need to take action in order to be compliant with the new legislation.

Peter, RSM

Peter is an indirect tax partner based in RSM’s Birmingham office. He advises corporate clients on all aspects of their VAT affairs and has extensive experience in the retail, manufacturing and leisure & hospitality sectors.

Peter works predominantly with large privately owned and listed businesses and has extensive experience in the consumer markets space where he has worked with some of the largest and best-known retailers in the UK. His areas of specialism include real estate, leisure & hospitality and corporate insolvency.

After a short spell at HMRC, Peter subsequently spent several years working with large privately owned and listed businesses at a ‘Big 4’ accountancy firm.  He became a partner at RSM in 2019.

Peter has been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation since 2001.
