Who is this course suitable for?
If you have competed our beginners guide in import and export courses, this would be a great follow on as the next level up.
Our specialised full day course provides a detailed overview of both import and export, all elements that are involved and a summary of what paperwork is needed to be able to complete procedures in a smooth manner.
If you haven’t completed a beginner’s course previously, but have an insight on the subjects, it would also suit those looking for a fact based course, to expand on existing knowledge of both topics combined.
What happens on the course and what is taught?
Attendees will learn about the following:
Export Process
- The Enquiry, Incoterms® 2020, Insurance, Methods of Payment, Licences & Limitations, Commodity Codes, Origin of the Goods
- Quotation, Order Acknowledgment & Pro Forma Invoice
- Packing – Guidelines and Rules
- Shipping Documents
- Booking Freight and Transport Documentation
- Proof of Export - Evidential Requirements
Import Process
- The Enquiry, Product Considerations, Payment, Import Controls, Incoterms, Method of Transport, Documentation, Costs and Contract
- Providing the Purchase Order
- Booking the Shipment and Clearance Agents
- Import Clearance, Documentation, Import Duties and Import Declarations
- Introduction to Special Procedures
There is no exam at the end of this session, but attendees will keep the slides provided.
After the course ends, attendees are encouraged to consider joining the next level of import and export courses to gain a deeper understanding of each element, which will further enhance their role within an import and / or export company.
To move on with your learning after this session, courses that follow on from perfectly are:
- Understanding export & Export documentation
- Import procedures including IP & OP

Costs:
Member’s fee: £250 + VAT
Non-member’s fee: £310 + VAT
*Any cancellations must be confirmed via email to [email protected] and must be given within 5 working days clear of the original event date. For any cancellations given less than 5 working days before the event, fees will not be refunded. This also counts for non-attendance. If the course is due to run again in the future, delegates can opt to transfer to the next available date. A £50 fee will still be issued to cover the costs already incurred.
*Please note, the aim is always to finish at the time provided above, but please allow extra time depending on how many delegates are on the course, as there may be more questions for the trainer to answer.
