A growth workshop will highlight how organisations can benefit from two upcoming showcase projects.

The BEST Business Engagement and Growth Workshop, co-ordinated and delivered by the North Birmingham Economic Recovery (NB:ER) Taskforce, will take place on Thursday 9 December at the Corner Flag, Villa Park.

It will feature representatives from IM Properties discussing how organisations can access business opportunities at the highly anticipated Peddimore employment park at Minworth, Sutton Coldfield.

In addition, SMEs can discover how they can get involved with and benefit from next year 's Commonwealth Games.

Presentations and workshops orchestrated by both employers will focus on growth and impact through marketing and social value.

Representatives from South and City College Birmingham will also be on hand to guide visitors through a series of improvement strategies which can bolster and improve recruitment.

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is a member of the NB:ER.

Afzal Hussain (pictured), chief officer at NB:ER partner Witton Lodge Community Association, said: “This is a chance for local SMEs to hear about business, investment and networking opportunities linked to the Peddimore project and the Commonwealth Games.

“The North Birmingham Economic Recovery Taskforce is a unique partnership that is actively collaborating to reinvigorate the local economy, creating business opportunities that lead to jobs and connecting these to local communities. ”

Running from 8.30 to 11.15am, the event will launch with an introduction and overview from Erdington MP Jack Dromey, Chair of the North Birmingham Economic Recovery Taskforce.

“The Covid pandemic has hit Birmingham hard, ” he said.

“In some areas of the city, such as Erdington, the constituency I represent, unemployment now stands at twice the national average. Rebuilding our local economy is a big task that will require business and the local community to come together - but we in North Birmingham are up the challenge.

“The BEST Business Engagement and Growth Workshop is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to hear how two major projects, the Peddimore development and the Commonwealth Games, can benefit them.

“We must maximise the impact of these projects on North Birmingham and our local community if we are to help our communities bounce back from Covid. I look forward to seeing the benefits this workshop will have on our local economy and for local people. ”

This session is part of a series sponsored by Cazoo.
