Touchwood Solihull has joined the continued fight against Covid-19 by making one of its units available to the NHS for use as a walk-in vaccination centre for local residents.

Shoppers will be able to receive their first, second or booster jabs at the new centre, which is situated on Solihull High Street, between Halifax Bank and Pret A Manger.

It follows rising demand for the jab in the town in recent weeks.

Two weeks ago almost 1,300 people received a jab, while last weekend saw the equivalent of more than one jab being administered every minute.

Tony Elvin, general manager, said: “Touchwood is committed to supporting our local community to stay safe in any way we can. It is encouraging to see such a high take-up of the vaccination programme in the town centre and we are delighted to play a part in sustaining the programme going forward.

“Our unit is situated in the heart of Solihull town centre and is an ideal walk-in facility, with no appointment needed, allowing people to pop in for a first Covid jab, a second or a booster, while they 're shopping. ”

Boosters must be administered at least six months, or 182 days, after the second dose.

The centre is open every day from 8am to 6pm.
