Solihull Sixth Form College have taken the decision to run their open evening event on Monday 24 January online due to the rising numbers of Covid-19 infections nationally.

The virtual event will run from 5.00 - 7.00pm and will utilise Microsoft Teams Live Events. This will involve a number of live broadcasts being delivered by senior management and teachers at the college.

A full schedule of these live streams will be sent to those who have registered nearer the time, together with links of how to access these sessions. Parents and prospective students will get the chance to ask questions using the chat function on Teams during these sessions and as well as delivering presentations, staff will go through as many questions as they can in the time available.

The sessions will be recorded, so anyone not able to attend all the sessions they want to live, have the opportunity to catch up via our website and YouTube channel in the week following the event.

College Principal Dr Martin Sullivan (pictured) said: "We were delighted to be able to run in-person Open events in October and November and these were well attended. Moving our January event online is the responsible thing to do in the circumstances and ensures we can still provide valuable post-16 advice to those who are weighing up their options for future study. All prospective students who get an offer to study with us next September will also get the chance to visit the College in the summer when we offer campus tours."

The College will also be holding online Principal Talks on 3 and 7 March 2022 and for those who are unable to make the event in January, registration in March is available here

The hundreds who had already booked tickets for the event before it moved online have been contacted by email and bookings for those who have not yet registered for the event are available now

Students who make applications for September 2022 and receive offers will also get further opportunities to learn about the College in the summer.

Online Welcome to College Day taster sessions will take place on 30 June, with in-person campus tours being offered on 1 July.

More information about these will go out to all students with offers later in the Spring.
