Experienced Energy Solutions (EES) won first and second places at the dragon boat race organised by Birmingham Women 's and Children 's Hospital at the Mailbox.

Dragon boating is a fun-filled, adrenaline pumping, water sports activity. Teams compete in Dragon Boats, which are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon's heads and tails.

Crews of up to 16 people sit in pairs and paddle to compete in races over distances of around 250 metres. Each boat has a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison, and a professional helmsperson in the stern to guide the boat.

Last year Experienced Energy Solutions won the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust dragon boat race title on the mailbox canals and this year they were able to retain the title.

Over the course of the year, EES have raised over £7,500 for the Birmingham Children 's Hospital with various events, which has contributed to a much bigger overall target of £186,192.95 from The Dragon Boat Race for Birmingham Women 's and Children 's Hospital.

The overall total is a truly remarkable amount and will make a huge impact for the patients and their families at both the Women 's and Children 's Hospitals.

Dominic O 'Brien, director of experienced energy solutions said: “I am very proud to be co-sponsors with Azets this year. I am passionate to help and support the Birmingham Children 's Hospital and it 's an honour to be part of an event that raises so much money for a worthy cause that is close to my heart. Can you stop us from getting the hattrick next year? ”
