Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce 's flagship campaign on the transition to net zero is back for the second year running.

The Sustainable Business Series 2022 endeavours to tackle climate change by supporting business decarbonisation to meet the national net zero target and build a resilient low carbon economy.

Headline sponsors for this year 's campaign include Aston University and the University of Birmingham.

The campaign looks to increase awareness and encourage action on business contributions to net zero by utilising business and stakeholder knowledge, best practice and guidance.

The series will cover a series of key topics including energy consumption, climate adaption & resilience and decarbonising in key sectors.

These topics will be showcased through events and sessions giving businesses in the region the environmental leadership and practical advice needed to achieve their own, as well as a wider, net zero target.

Last year 's campaign saw 50 different businesses take part and over four hundred delegates attend events spanning over five weeks.

The GBCC is now collating expressions of interest from businesses across the region that are keen to partner on the campaign.

Raj Kandola, head of policy said: “Following on from the success of last year 's inaugural campaign, I 'm delighted to announce that the Sustainable Business Series is returning for a second successive year. ”

“The Sustainable Business Series will look to draw on regional expertise share best practice, guidance and knowledge so businesses gain insight on how to adapt to, and reap the benefits of decarbonisation during the net zero transition.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, the importance of embracing the net zero agenda has become stronger than ever given the broader socio-economic benefits that it will bring for region and beyond.

“Ultimately, a key aim of the series is to ensure we harness the resilience of the local business community as we rise to the challenge of climate change. ”
