Businesses join forces for epic mountain trek

A father and son team from the communications firm Pure Cloud Solutions have joined forces with fellow Tamworth based printing, promotional merchandise & branded workwear business Embello, to climb the formidable 14692ft peak of the Matterhorn mountain in the Swiss Alps this month.

They are targeting to raise £30000 towards their charity of choice Help Us Help Others, and have already raised over £8000 of that target, which for several years has supported local causes.

The charity was set up to not only give support to individuals that couldn 't get help from anyone else, or where the system was failing them, but to also have oversight on where every penny is spent.

Darren Lake, founder of Pure Cloud Solutions and Help Us Help Others, said: “I 've personally always wanted to climb the Matterhorn but life always got in the way, I 've now hit my early 50s and I know it 's now or never, I know this won 't be easy but then nothing worth doing ever is!

“I hope our efforts will support Help Us Help Others in raising a substantial amount of money that will enable the charity to significantly change more people 's lives. I have a feeling it will be needed more than ever after the impact Covid-19 is having on the country. ”

Jamie Lake, CEO of Pure Cloud Solutions, said: "Dad booked the climb and messaged me and my brothers straight away and as soon as he did I wanted to make sure I was on the trip with him!

Help Us Help Others is close to my heart and I have done a lot of work over the past few years to raise money and I saw this as an opportunity to take it a step further than we have previously and aim to raise a significant amount of money that will help those the most in need.

Kyle Raffo, managing director of Embello, joined the trek after meeting Jamie through a shared acquaintance and realised they had a shared passion for climbing after he climbed in Nepal earlier this year.

Kyle, who is also formerly trained a paramedic, said: "I 'm delighted to join Darren and Jamie on their trek and help raise thousands of pounds for such important causes."
