The first speaker has been confirmed for the upcoming Q4 Quarterly Business Report launch event organised by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC).

Simon Evans (pictured), head of corporate affairs and marketing at Birmingham Airport will be joining the panel at the upcoming Q4 Quarterly Business Report launch event.

The event, happening at Birmingham City University on 7 February from 9 to 11 am, will focus on Growth in Greater Birmingham and will explore the domestic and international growth plans for businesses across the region.

Simon started his career as a journalist, working as a news reporter for the Press Association, the wire service for the UK and Ireland, before moving into comms at Thames Water, Heathrow Express and Network Rail.

He started at Birmingham Airport in March 2022.

Sponsored by Birmingham City University and now a well-established feature in the local business calendar, these high-quality events attract a senior level audience for networking, discussion and intelligence sharing.

The Quarterly Business Report offers an up-to-date snapshot of the performance of the Greater Birmingham business community.

As the flagship economic publication of the GBCC, it is the most comprehensive regular report of its kind in the city-region. Underpinning the report is data gathered from quarterly surveys completed by businesses from across the Greater Birmingham area.

Raj Kandola, head of policy at the GBCC said: “It 's brilliant that Simon is available to join us for what 's likely to be high quality discussion on growth trends across the region.

“During the midst of the pandemic, Birmingham Airport faced a torrid time and it 's reassuring to see the manner in which its bounced back over the last 12 months and still playing a vital role in driving economic growth.

“Early analysis from our report reveals the resilience that firms are demonstrating in the face of well documented challenges and it 's clear that Birmingham Airport still plays a huge part in connecting our region and it 's businesses to growth markets across the globe. ”
