Acorns Children’s Hospice has announced a new partnership with external marketing agency, Lunar Agency, as part of an ambitious strategy to grow its income and further strengthen relationships across the region.

The exciting collaboration will support the charity’s wider fundraising efforts by helping to unlock new opportunities and extend its network of supporters, to create long-term impact through partnership, profile and giving.

It costs Acorns £13 million each year to provide its vital care for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions and support for their families – with 72 per cent of that total coming from donations, fundraising and partnerships with the local community.

Acorns collaboration with Lunar comes as demand for its highly-specialist care continues to grow.

In the past year alone, the charity has seen a 47 per cent increase in the number of families choosing Acorns care, love and support in their child’s final days.

At the same time, rising care costs mean greater income is urgently needed to ensure the charity can continue to be there when families need it most.

Vicky Smith, director of income generation at Acorns Children’s Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Lunar Agency on this important campaign to help deepen our connections within the community and grow our income to ensure vital support for children and families who rely on our care can continue.

“This partnership will enable us to unlock new potential, build on existing relationships, and create even more meaningful opportunities across our region.

“As more families turn to Acorns for support than ever before, the cost of delivering our care continues to rise, so raising additional income has never been more important.

“Together, we can make sure we’re always here for the children and families who need us most.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life-threatening conditions, and support for their families.

In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 780 children across the West Midlands, and supported over 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.

Children visit Acorns for rehabilitative respite, pain and symptom management, palliative therapies, emergency and end-of-life care.

This care and support is provided from Acorns three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and in the community.

Acorns partnership with Lunar brings together two organisations that share a deep commitment to the West Midlands and a passion for making a difference in local communities.

Jacqueline Tarry, co-founder and chief strategy officer at Lunar Agency, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Acorns Children's Hospice.

“This partnership is more than just an agency appointment, it’s a shared mission. We will be nominating Acorns Children's Hospice as our official charity partner.

“Our entire team will champion the cause, through strategic events, volunteering, and fundraising.

“Together, we’re determined to bring not just awareness, but vital support to the families who need it most.”
