Chamber productivity campaign focuses on attracting talent
The second week of the Chamber 's annual Growth Through People campaign begins today, with Growth Through Attracting and Engaging Talent week.
Growth Through People aims to help local firms boost productivity through improved leadership and people management skills.
Delivered by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce with a range of partners, it includes free training sessions, workshops and webinars alongside research and thought leadership content, all delivered together with Chamber members.
The 2021 campaign attracted around 400 delegates and featured 24 thought leadership blogs, advice from 16 local leaders in social media videos, and a four-podcast mini-series.
The campaign hashtag reached over 300,000 accounts on Twitter alone.
The 2021 campaign was delivered in partnership with over 50 Chamber Member and stakeholder organisations.
2022 is the sixth year the Chambers have run the campaign.
This week, Growth Through Attracting and Engaging Talent week will feature an event and a webinar, alongside thought leadership blog and podcast content.
The first event this week, Cultivating Your Employer Brand, taking place at the Hyatt Regency on Wednesday, will feature insights from local businesses which have developed exceptionally strong employer brands on how they have achieved this and their experience along the way - as well as the impact it has had on their recruitment, employee engagement and retention and ultimately, bottom line.
Chaired by Raj Kandola, head of policy at the GBCC, the event will feature:
- Paul Daniels, Employer Brand & Marketing Specialist - Global, Deutsche Bank
- Tanya Sipos, Head of HR, WSP
On Friday, a Growth Through People webinar, on Engaging Flexible Working Teams, will explore best practice approaches to effectively managing, engaging and getting the most out of flexible working teams, as the government considers legislation providing all individuals with the right to request a flexible working arrangement.
It covers work location, working hours and working pattern 'from day one, ' and research suggests appetite for long-term remote and flexible working.
This webinar will feature expert insights and advice from:
- Sam Harris, Employment Associate, Pinsent Masons
- Helga Henry, Helga Henry Ltd
Growth Through People culminates in a conference on 30 March at Eastside Rooms which will explore further, exceptional perspectives on themes including responsible leadership, accessing and engaging talent, unlocking potential and harnessing resilience and feature speakers including:
- Ian Reid, Chief Executive, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
- Dr Justin Varney, Director of Public Health, Birmingham City Council
- Lisa Powney, Senior Consultant, Curium Solutions Limited
- Karl George MBE, Managing Director, The Governance Forum Ltd, and Partner, RSM UK
