Charity calls on businesses to help double their impact through match-funding campaign
Edgbaston-based charity Little Hearts Matter is calling on the local business community to get behind their Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s largest online match-funding campaign to help raise £20,000 in support of children born with half a working heart.
The charity is seeking pledges from local companies to help unlock a vital match fund ahead of their Little Lives Matter campaign, which will run from 3 to 10 December 2025.
Pledges must be made by Friday 29 August.
Fundraising manager Katie Banks said: “This is a unique chance for businesses to make their donation go even further.
“Every pledge helps to unlock matched donations from the Big Give and inspire public giving.
“With your help, we could turn £5,000 in pledges into £20,000 of life-changing support.”
How it works:
• Businesses pledge an amount (no money is transferred now—just a commitment).
• During the campaign week in December, Little Hearts Matter aims to raise £10,000 in public donations, which will be matched by both the pledge fund and the Big Give’s charity partners.
• This could create a £20,000 total fund to support families facing some of the most complex and difficult medical journeys imaginable.
All pledging businesses will be recognised across the campaign’s promotional materials, social media, and donor communications.
Each year, up to 500 babies are diagnosed with half a working heart, an incurable condition.
They face immense challenges in their first year of life.
The "Little Lives Appeal" provides comfort and support, helping their families navigate surgeries, hospital stays, and home care.
