The Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College (JCC) recently hosted their annual BBQ, celebrating the support and collaboration with business and the education community.

The college has seen many achievements during the past academic year, including 1589 who took part in future focused activities, 1,689 students engaging in work related activities, and 266 students who participated in individual work placements.

One of the standout events of the year was the ‘JCC Futures Conference’, which brought together over 600 Year 12 students and more than 64 employer partners.

Students participated in 44 workshops, covering various sectors including healthcare, technology, business, engineering, and the creative industries.

From mock interviews to CV crafting, every session was designed to empower our students with real-world insight and essential employability skills.

This year also saw a strengthened focus on social responsibility and personal growth.

Through Charity Week and Community Connect, students collaborated with the Adult Learning team to make a tangible difference in the community, demonstrating that career readiness also encompasses developing compassion, leadership, and civic engagement.

The college also hosted a vibrant series of ‘Career Panels’ focused on sectors such as law, healthcare, business, and technology, giving students the chance to hear directly from professionals.

These were supplemented by enrichment events including a STEM day, a Micosoft employability workshop, and a Canal Walk in partnership with the Canal & River Trust.

Each A-Level, BTEC, and T-Level subject hosted its own ‘Tailored Industry Day’, connecting students with experts in their respective fields.

Meanwhile, 886 university applications were submitted this year.
