Consultancy expert brings together colleagues for ‘Niksen’ walk

A group of property and construction colleagues recently took part in a Niksen themed walk, as part of Constructing Excellence Birmingham and Black Country Club.

Constructing Excellence Committee member Jo Jones is a huge advocate of exercise and aims to boost brain health and wellbeing by hosting a series of Niksen themed walks before the working day begins. Niksen is the art of doing not a lot, without purpose.

The aim was to bring the group of property and construction colleagues together with some informal chat and a bit of exercise to clear the mind and to “just be.”

The route followed a four-mile circular walk from Birmingham city centre along leafy canal towpaths and through the University of Birmingham’s green space.

Jo said: “Developing relationships with other business professionals is crucial and can help open doors. However, these “walkie talkie” style events are not just about business – they are about encouraging a support community, while enjoying outside space and taking a break from our usual sedentary sat at a desk habit.

“It promotes a relaxed style of chat, and you are better able to focus on speaking and listening. Plus, when you are chatting away the time can fly by, making those 10,000 steps far more achievable and enjoyable”.

Jo is the client relationship manager at Clancy Consulting and colleague to divisional director Wendy Stanton, who was part of a panel of inspiring women who shared their inspirational stories at the Asian Business Chambers of Commerce International Women’s Day celebration.
