Consultancy supports academy trust in understanding AI in education
Vu Ai, a Solihull-based AI and automation consultancy, recently partnered with Arden Multi Academy Trust (AMAT) to conduct a comprehensive research project exploring AI awareness and adoption across its six schools.
The initiative aimed to understand current knowledge, perceptions, and usage of AI among staff and governors, helping the Trust shape its long-term strategy for integrating AI into education.
With both organisations being proud members of the Solihull Chamber of Commerce, this project highlights the innovation and forward-thinking happening in the local community.
As part of the project, Vu Ai conducted in-depth interviews with teaching staff, support teams, and governors across all six schools in the Trust.
The research focused on three key areas:
• Awareness – Understanding how familiar staff and governors are with AI technologies.
• Current Usage – Examining how, if at all, AI tools are being utilised in teaching and operational processes.
• Opportunities & Concerns – Identifying where AI could add value and where challenges or uncertainties exist.
The findings provide AMAT with a clear picture of how prepared the organisation is for the future of AI in education.
Martin Murphy, CEO of Arden Multi Academy Trust, said: “We met up with Phil after a Chamber seminar. He provided us with the clarity and understanding enabling us to begin the process of embracing the opportunities that AI can bring to education.
“The beginning was a comprehensive online survey for all of our staff – both teaching and associate staff. We were able to identify the strengths within our Trust and begin the process of developing policy and working groups that can explore both the opportunities and the concerns that AI can bring to education. We use Phil as our ‘local’ consultant who supports the work that is developing in the year ahead.”
Phil Webb, CEO and co-founder of Vu Ai, said: “AI is already transforming industries, and education is no exception. By working closely with AMAT, we were able to understand not only where AI can be implemented but also how to do so in a way that benefits staff, students, and the broader community. We aim to support schools in using AI responsibly and effectively.”
As AI continues to evolve, its role in education will only grow. From AI-powered homework support tools and virtual teaching assistants to helping students develop digital literacy and critical thinking skills, the technology is already shaping how teachers teach and how pupils learn.
Education providers face a critical moment: they must now embrace AI and lead the way, or risk falling behind. Supporting staff and students with AI adoption isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about preparing the next generation for a future where AI will play an integral role in every industry.
Vu Ai is continuing to explore solutions with AMAT and other educational partners, helping schools confidently integrate AI into classrooms and operational processes.
Vu Ai continues to work with schools, local authorities, and businesses across the region to help them understand and adopt AI. If you’re part of an organisation exploring AI opportunities, please get in touch with Phil at [email protected].
