Have your say on the national state of employment
Businesses across the UK are being invited to express their opinion about the current experiences of recent employment policy changes.
The 2025 workforce survey, launched by the British Chambers of Commerce, aims to ensure that the government understands how businesses feel about new legislation and what support might need to be put in place to help firms thrive in a changing employment landscape.
The anonymous results will be shared directly with UK Government Ministers and Officials and will be considered when significant policy decisions about the UK workforce and skills planning are being made.
The key focus areas of the survey include: the Employment Rights Bill, National Insurance Contributions and National Living Wage increases, US tariffs impact, and other labour force issues.
Gemma Dilkes (pictured), policy advisor at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “This survey is crucial to ensuring that national policymakers understand the nuanced challenges that businesses are facing in terms of adapting their operations to new employment legislation and dealing with the higher costs associated with increased employers’ National Insurance contributions and National Living Wage.
“These policy changes came about at a time when businesses have already been battling recruitment issues, rising operational costs and geopolitical uncertainty – with those trading with the US being hit with varying levels of tariffs, destabilising the international trade landscape.
"The Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce continues to work collaboratively with national and local stakeholders and businesses to tackle these issues. I highly encourage interested readers to contribute to this survey to have their views heard on such an important topic”.
