Heating and electrical firm backs town fun run
One of Sutton Coldfield’s long-established businesses, Butco, has secured a place as a supporting sponsor of the Royal Sutton Fun Run.
A family-run business, established in 1959 working out of an old doctor’s surgery on Mill Street, just a few hundred yards from the start line of the Fun Run in Lower Parade, Butco specialises in services for the home including heating, electrics and renewables.
Butco was the first company to offer a central heating and gas boiler insurance style product back in the 1970’s and continues to provide unrivalled and affordable emergency cover today along with a dedicated 24-hour, 365 days-a-year service team.
The Fun Run takes place on Sunday 1 June.
Director James Tough said: “Although Butco has relocated to Minworth, the town of Sutton Coldfield remains a key area for our business, especially as the royal town is where founders Patrick Butler and Bert Cole first started selling loft insulation door to door.
“The event has become such an important event for the royal town and raises significant sums of money for many local charities and voluntary organisations. Butco is delighted to be a supporting sponsor of the Fun Run.
Tracey Spare, Fun Run event director said: “We’re delighted to welcome Butco back as a supporting sponsor which will see Butco branded boards located on each of the traffic islands around the 8.5mile course.
“Butco supported the event in the early years of the Fun Run, back in the 1980s and it’s wonderful to renew our relationship.
“Like most events in this country, we rely on attracting commercial sponsors to help unwrite the significant costs of staging the Fun Run, which have risen considerably in recent years.
“With a capacity entry of 5,500 participants, excitement is building with this year’s event just over a week away.”
