Learning trust on the lookout for governors and trustees
The Summit Learning Trust is actively seeking to appoint governors and trustees to support, challenge and inspire leaders to make a difference to the education of our children and young people.
Governors and trustees can transform the lives of children and young people in their communities by improving educational standards and they play an intrinsic role in education.
The two roles will have an impact on improving the life chances of children and young people across Birmingham and Solihull.
Working as a team, governors and trustees challenge and support leaders to ensure children and young people receive the very best educational experience.
This is achieved by harnessing the professional skills, expertise and local knowledge of governors and trustees. It is in this light that we welcome the next generation of governors and trustees from wide and varied backgrounds who can work with us to transform our Trust, our schools and our college.
Applicants should possess a broad and balanced set of skills and experience from non-education sectors with inter-transferable skills to enhance their strategic and leadership development.
This opportunity would suit someone who wishes to learn more about how publicly funded organisations work and in return, they will benefit from:
o Invaluable knowledge
o Influence over £60 million+ turnover of public funds
o Experience of stakeholder management
o A significant number of project portfolios managed to time and budget
o Board-level experience of strategy and oversight
This could form part of your Corporate Social Responsibility ethos.
The Summit Learning Trust is currently made up of three secondary schools, four primary schools and a sixth form college educating almost 8000 learners.
All academies are located in the Birmingham and Solihull while they have been judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ providers with an increasing proportion of ‘Outstanding’ features.
The Trust said in a statement: “Our Trust is committed to providing vibrant learning communities in our schools and college, where our children and young people are happy, safe and supported to work hard.
“We are all acutely aware of our core purpose of educating all learners through exceptional teaching and learning, underpinned by high levels of care and support and we challenge our children and young people to do their best, every lesson, every day.
“Being part of the Summit Learning Trust family means that all our academies benefit from a wide range of expertise, support and challenge. Leaders, teachers and support colleagues work with each other across our academies to develop and share excellent practice and provide support where needed.”
