New confidence following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions has resulted in around 20 new jobs being offered by entertainment businesses across Birmingham's 'golden mile' of Broad Street.

The opportunities are for roles ranging from events management and finance to media technicians, as well as jobs in shops, bars and cafes.

The jobs are being advertised on Westside BID's own jobs site, which was launched earlier this summer, with vacancies already 50 per cent higher than the previous month.

Several jobs are being sought at The REP theatre (pictured), including a head of technical design involved in all productions, as well as finance and sales and events roles.

The Ikon Gallery is looking for an assistant curator to help in the research, planning and delivery of exhibitions and artistic programmes, plus a communications and digital coordinator.

The NEC Group is also in the market for a number of jobs involving the International Convention Centre, including a conference and banqueting manager and a production manager.

And, reflecting next year 's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, applicants are sought for a project co-ordinator to help with the successful delivery of the event.

Other jobs are available in the hospitality sector across the NEC Group and at venues such as Starbucks and Subway, including chefs and kitchen porters.

Luisa Huggins, media manager at Westside BID, said the job applications demonstrated how the hospitality sector was returning to normal.

She added: “We are pleased to support members by hosting a jobs page that has been well received. Our members talk, we listen, and take action. ”
