Point-of-sale provider rolls out technology to huge Winter Wonderland event
WRS has partnered with Bavarian Village to support one of the UK’s most popular seasonal events.
The UK‑based technology company – which specialises in providing electronic point‑of‑sale (EPOS) and POS (Point of Sale) solutions for the hospitality and retail sectors - will deliver a large-scale POS (point-of-sale) and self-service solution across Hyde Park.
Bavarian Village forms part of London’s Winter Wonderland, attracting high visitor numbers and operating across a fast-paced, high-footfall environment.
Following initial discussions towards the end of 2024, WRS was selected to support the event with a system capable of handling high transaction volumes, while maintaining a smooth customer experience.
The project required careful planning, including a fully remote implementation phase due to all hardware being stored overseas.
Despite these challenges, WRS delivered the full solution within a two-week implementation window, supported by engineers on site to complete configuration, testing and final checks ahead of opening.
WRS also provided on-site support for both the VIP opening and the public launch.
The deployment included nearly 200 POS and self-service solutions, made up of fixed tills, self-service kiosks and mobile POS devices, alongside a fully integrated Kitchen Display System.
Guppy Patel, Bavarian Village operations lead, said: “The WRS tech is really good and we’re really happy with the partnership.
“This is just the start. We knew it would be tough to make a change not a new supplier, but WRS have supported us from the very beginning.
“The support has been fantastic, and we’re already looking forward to this year’s event later in the year.”
