A Staffordshire based property development firm has ensured that defibrillators located in the Great Wyrley regions are repaired and up to date.

CJE Developments & Property Services offered their support to maintain the defibrillator units and cabinets for free, following a post on a local community Facebook page looking for donations as part of a charity evening to raise funds for defibrillator maintenance.

The firm’s managing director Connor Elwell later met with Stephen who volunteers to maintain and check the units on a weekly basis ensuring they are in working order and ready to deploy should they be needed.

Stephan said “The Great Wyrley defib volunteers advertised on social media about a charity evening to raise funds for the upkeep of our defibrillators and cabinets in the village.

“Conner from CJE Developments and Property Services, got in touch to say he would be willing to help maintain our cabinets free of charge.

“Following a discussion with him he replaced and fitted new lights in two of our cabinets.

“Conner and the team were professional in their approach to the work they completed for us.”

The presence of defibrillators in public and private spaces is essential to save lives in cases of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) – a leading cause of death worldwide.

It can happen without warning, even in people without known heart disease. Without immediate help, the survival rate drops by 10 per cent for every minute without defibrillation. Defibrillation within 3 to 5 minutes can result in survival rates as high as 50 to 70 per cent.

Modern defibrillators are automated and voice-guided, requiring no medical training. They analyse the heart’s rhythm and only deliver a shock if needed.
