The second week of a major leadership and people management campaign delivered by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce focuses on employee engagement and employment support.

Growth Through People - which takes place throughout March - is an annual campaign designed to help firms boost productivity through improved leadership and people management skills.

Coming up in the second week of the campaign are two webinars.

The first, tomorrow, focuses on re-establishing employee engagement.

It is led by Fiona Anderson and Diane Rance (pictured), Associates of Work Horizons and will feature a case study from Saira Demmer, CEO of SF Recruitment.

The economic impacts of Covid-19 have brought about drastic changes in many businesses.

For some, this will have meant a rapid shift to remote working.

Others may have experienced changed hours, perhaps due to new caring responsibilities.

This session will explores re-establishing employee engagement within your organisation or team, with the resources available during these challenging times.

The founder of My Change Expert, Fiona works in partnership with clients, ensuring that investment in culture change delivers results.

From executive coaching to business wide culture change, she creates the space and environment for people to explore, develop and own their solutions to accelerate personal and companywide transformation.

Diane began her career in the car industry, in employee relations, where she first developed her skills around handling tricky conversations.

She now works independently as a qualified and accredited executive coach and mentor.

Her work includes supporting clients who are handling tricky conversations.

As a Chamber Council Member was instrumental in proposing and establishing the Chamber 's Growth Through People campaign.

The second webinar, on 11 March, aims to help businesses navigate employment support.

Chaired by the Chamber 's policy and projects manager, Emily Stubbs, this session will feature experts from BMet College.

The webinar will answer questions such as:

  • What 's the difference between a T Level and an A Level?
  • What 's Kickstart?
  • How have apprenticeships changed?
  • How are apprenticeships and traineeships different?
  • What 's a Sector Based Work Academy?
  • How can my business benefit from the billions of pounds committed to these schemes?

Growth Through People workshops will continue throughout the month, ending with a virtual conference on 30 March.

The online conference will focus on topical leadership and people management challenges following the impacts of Brexit and Covid-19, featuring keynote addresses from Jess Phillips MP and Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE on empowering individuals to reach their full potential and authentic leadership in times of change.

Aston University, BMet College and the University of Birmingham 's Work Inclusivity Research Centre (WIRC) are headline sponsors of Growth Through People 2021.

Emily Stubbs said: “This second week of Growth Through People is themed around all aspects of attracting and engaging talent within your organisation. Alongside our expert-led workshops we will be publishing a whole host of thought-leadership blogs and other digital content to share best practice on this important topic.

“I highly encourage interested readers to register their place at our upcoming webinars and conference, and to share the campaign with colleagues interested in boosting their leadership and people management capabilities. ”
