Solicitors host successful employment law seminar

Pickerings Solicitors welcomed local businesses to their Employment Law Breakfast Seminar, led by Sue Hatton and Joanna Robson. 

The event provided invaluable insights into recent and forthcoming employment law changes and their implications for businesses. 

Sue Hatton MD and FCIPD (pictured), delivered a comprehensive overview of legislative changes, covering increased fines for employing illegal workers, amendments to paternity leave regulations, and revisions to unpaid leave provisions.

Attendees gained detailed understanding of various topics, including flexible working requests and employer obligations under the Worker Protection Act.

In addition, Joanna Robson discussed various case law implications for businesses, highlighting strategies for managing grievance processes and post-termination restrictions. 

Joanna also spoke about the effectiveness of Settlement Agreements and how they can be used for amicable employer-employee separation.

The seminar concluded with a roundup of HR best practices aimed at ensuring fairness, legality, and minimal business impact in managing employee relations.
