Birmingham-based adoption agency Adoption Focus has recently partnered with an organisation called 'Work For Food ', to facilitate sales fundraising for local small businesses.

With 5.8 million small businesses in the UK, collectively the small business community can have a hugely positive impact on society. However, currently only 2 per cent of UK charities ' income comes from businesses, compared to 43 per cent from individuals.

Adoption Focus state that they want to play a part in moving the needle on that 2 per cent and are keen to increase their support from small businesses, to enable them to ensure they can continue to provide vital support services to their adopters.

As people increasingly want to buy from and champion businesses that are led by their values, Adoption Focus have found an easy way for small businesses to donate to them through their sales. By pledging a donation via their Work for Good page, businesses can donate in a legal, simple and sustainable way that works for them.

The business can choose the amount and frequency, plus with no minimum (or maximum!) donation amount, they can give as they grow. To support Adoption Focus through your sales, you must have a Commercial Participation Agreement, which is created through the Work for Good donations form. Once this agreement is in place, you'll be able to publicise your giving and share your support for Adoption Focus in plain text; alongside the Work for Good logo.

Adoption Focus fundraising manager Robert J Mitchell (pictured) said: “This is a great opportunity for local businesses to show their support of the third sector in a manner that is tailored to their ability to give in a sustainable way. It shows how much they care about their community and is almost zero risk because the donation amount is based on actual sales. ”
