Teachers and current learners will be available in all curriculum areas to talk about the College’s wide range of A level, BTEC and T level courses and showcase their latest successes.
The recently published exam results included 1,441 A*/A and Distinction*/Distinction grades at A level and BTEC. The pass rate across all courses was 99 per cent, with 75 per cent A* - C grades at A level and high grades at 85 per cent for BTEC and 92 per cent for T level. 37 courses enjoyed a 100 per cent pass rate.
There will be an opportunity for visitors to see the College’s facilities, including brand-new sustainable buildings constructed for Psychology, Chemistry and Applied Science in recent years.
In addition, College principal Dr Martin Sullivan will be delivering presentations throughout the day, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about the learning culture of the College and the way they support their learners while they are with them and in searching for a positive post-College destination.
The principal commented: “Solihull Sixth Form College’s reputation for high academic standards was reaffirmed this summer thanks to a wonderful set of results. We are also proud of the superb support we offer to our young people, while they are studying with us and in their progression onto university, apprenticeships, further training and employment after college.
“We want to show prospective students and their families why that reputation is well deserved, so I urge young people across Birmingham and Solihull to visit us this term and see for themselves. They can expect expert advice from subject specialists and a valuable insight into the support we offer to young people.”
The support services of the College will be showcased at Open Day too, with staff on hand to offer advice on careers, personal development, additional learning support, financial support, student welfare and the admissions process.
Information about the enrichment options the College offers, ranging from sport, music, drama, visual arts, volunteering to academic options will also be showcased.
