Solihull school seeks industry experts to inspire next generation
Arden Academy, based in Knowle, is calling on local businesses, industry leaders, and skilled professionals to help inspire and support secondary school students by sharing their expertise.
As part of our ongoing commitment to preparing young people for the world of work, the school is expanding its network of employer partners - and is inviting members of the Solihull Chamber of Commerce to get involved.
Arden is seeking professionals from all sectors to engage with students through a range of meaningful opportunities, including guest talks and career insights, work experience placements, workplace tours and demonstrations and classroom lesson support or curriculum-linked activities.
The involvement of local businesses can be transformative in helping students understand career pathways, develop essential skills, and build aspirations for their future.
Arden’s careers guidance counsellor, Sharon Butcher-Johns, said: “Hearing about jobs roles from professionals and skilled people directly is so much more impactful that having us describe a job to them; we know how valuable their contribution is from feedback we get from students.
“And, we know that students have been inspired and pursued careers off the back of these encounters.”
Nick Lyons, local businessman and owner of Eric Lyons Butchers, said: “I’ve worked with Arden students for years, regularly providing work experience opportunities and assisting in catering lessons.
“The satisfaction of doing this is immense and I would encourage all businesses to engage with students”.
Businesses who would like to get involved can complete the short registration form.
