Solihull students secure top destinations across universities, apprenticeships and industry

Students from WMG Academy are celebrating outstanding post-16 and post-18 destinations this year, with many progressing to leading universities, prestigious apprenticeships, and employment with major UK companies.

Reflecting the academy’s focus on technical excellence and real-world experience, this year’s destinations highlight the breadth of student success across engineering, design, business, computing, and the arts.

Post-16 Destinations

Jack M (pictured) achieved Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* in the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Engineering and will study Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes University.

Robert S achieved Distinction* Distinction in Engineering and a Distinction in IT, securing a place at Northumbria University to study Computer Science.

Princess T achieved top grades across Business, Mathematics, and Computer Science and will join the Amazon Degree Apprenticeship in partnership with Queen Mary University of London.

Noah D will study English at the University of Birmingham, having achieved Distinctions in Art and IT alongside A Level English.

Caira H achieved A*, B, B in Product Design, Physics, and Maths and will study Architecture at the University of Bath.

She said: “Being at WMG Academy Solihull meant that I could engage with big companies like Birmingham Airport. This allowed me to produce a fantastic portfolio to get accepted into the University of Bath.”

Romaya T has secured an apprenticeship with Babcock as a Naval Architect, while Daniel B begins work in Civil Engineering with EBM.

Nathan W achieved Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* and will study Motorsport Engineering at Coventry University.

Key Stage 4 Destinations

At Key Stage 4, WMG Academy students continue to achieve impressive outcomes.

Siacheslav (Slava) Z achieved a string of top grades, including 8s in Maths, Chemistry, and Physics, and will continue his studies at Solihull Sixth Form College.

Kai T has secured a prestigious apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce, while Connor E and Ruby J will both continue their education at WMG Academy Sixth Form, with Ruby embarking on T Levels in Engineering.

Associate principal Claire Morris said: “This year’s student achievements are outstanding, with destinations spanning world-class universities and leading employers. These outcomes highlight the power of combining academic rigour with the technical expertise that defines WMG Academy. We could not be prouder of what our students have accomplished and of the bright futures ahead of them.”
