A leading specialist professional services and technology firm serving insurance, financial services and highly regulated markets, has announced that it has been awarded an overall rating of ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

Davies’ learning solutions team are celebrating after Ofsted recognised the firm’s “caring and highly knowledgeable coaches” who are responsible for the training of over 1,900 apprentices currently enrolled in insurance or financial services apprenticeships.

It was noted that all of the coaches are industry professionals who are able to draw on their knowledge and real-life experience to benefit apprentices.

In its report, completed following an inspection in February, Ofsted praised the collaboration between Davies and employers in the sector which allows training to be regularly updated based on the needs of the sector, learners and apprentices.

Victoria Miles (pictured), consulting director – Professional Education said: “To be recognised positively by Ofsted is a real achievement for Davies and the learning solutions team.

“We design our apprenticeships and bootcamps to help bridge the talent and skills gaps currently impacting the insurance and financial services industries and to ensure these sectors continue to thrive.

“We work with our clients to understand the skills they need and develop programmes that benefit the sector as a whole.

“We strongly believe that welcoming fresh, diverse talent into the space will bring much needed new skills and perspectives into the workplace.

“Our latest Ofsted rating will only drive us further as we continue to invest in new talent.”

Matt Edwards, Quality & delivery Director – Professional Education said: “We have worked diligently on improving the quality and standards for our apprentices, learners, employers, and staff, and it is great to see that this has been recognised by Ofsted.

“Listening to the inspection team talk about our approach, which develops apprentices’ and learners’ character, resilience, and confidence, as well as their knowledge and skills, gave me an immense sense of pride in what we have accomplished so far, and we are looking forward to building on this further.”

The news follows the recent announcement that Davies supported the transfer of over 200 apprentices from a Midlands-based training provider and has received funding from the Department of Education to launch its Skills Bootcamps in Data in Insurance and Data in Financial Services, aimed to upskill workers with vital data skills and alleviate the current data skills shortage amid the trend of digitalisation in the sector.

During the last 5 years, Davies has significantly increased investment in its professional education capability in apprenticeships, technical qualification support and in 2023, launched Davies Academy.

By working in partnership with organisations Davies Academy creates an offering that delivers the next generation of professionals and bridges the skills and diversity gaps currently present in the insurance and financial services sector.
