Rockets join forces with academy in Perry Barr

Broadway Academy School in Perry Barr is building on the excitement of the Commonwealth Games in 2022 by forming a partnership with Birmingham 's biggest community basketball club.

The Academy is joining forces with the City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club to provide a memorable educational and sporting experience in partnership with the Broadway Sixth Form.

Rockets ' dedicated staff have a proven track record of producing elite athletes which will continue at Broadway Academy School.

Utilising existing national and international partnerships Rockets will endeavour to support elite players in finding the most suitable situation once graduating from the academy to pursue their basketball careers.

Staff will work closely with the school to develop able students and young people, ready to progress in the modern world - in basketball or beyond.

The wide range of educational courses available provides choice and flexibility for student athletes who are sure to enjoy their experience.

Nationally-renowned coach Paul Douglas will deliver a comprehensive daily programme and as head coach of the academy will lead all aspects of the player 's development.

“This will be a great opportunity for those wanting to be challenged on the court and ready to commit educationally too, ” he said.

“Whatever level of play or experience you arrive at the academy with, I am confident you 'll leave a much better player if you make the commitment. ”
