What motivated you to join the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce?

As a charity and cultural organisation, Ikon was keen to increase awareness of our work and strengthen our connections with the wider business community in Birmingham. We rely on funding, donations, and income generation to support our charitable aims, so joining the Chamber provided an opportunity to reach local businesses, raise our profile, and build relationships that could support Ikon’s long-term sustainability.

Can you share a specific instance where Chamber membership directly benefited your business?

Through attending a joint Christmas Social with the Birmingham and Asian Business Chambers, I met Ann Powell, Head of Smart Works Birmingham. That initial introduction led to Ikon hosting a fashion show and panel discussion for International Women’s Day in our galleries. It was a fantastic collaboration between two charities, using Ikon’s unique city-centre venue to support an organisation doing vital work for unemployed women.

How has the Chamber helped you connect with other businesses or clients?

The Chamber has given Ikon a platform to engage directly with local businesses and professionals across a wide range of sectors. By attending networking events, we’re able to talk about Ikon, promote our gallery as a venue for meetings and events, and highlight opportunities for corporate partnerships. These conversations have helped us reach audiences we might not otherwise connect with.

I would recommend the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to any organisation looking to build meaningful connections within the city. The Chamber offers a real sense of community, bringing together people from different industries who are willing to share advice, opportunities, and support. The events are both enjoyable and insightful.
