Rewired PR

"As a woman in business, I’ve learnt that staying true to your own principles and values is fundamental to being an authentic leader.

"Being part of the Chamber community has extended my network of business leaders, which has not only been positive from a business growth perspective, but also enabled me to build supportive connections with other like-minded people."

Ruth Pipkin, Managing Director

How has being part of the Chamber community supported you as a leader, not just as a business?

Being part of the Chamber community has extended my network of business leaders, which has not only been positive from a business growth perspective, but also enabled me to build supportive connections with other like-minded people. At Rewired we benefit from our membership at all levels, with Future Faces providing fantastic networking and development opportunities for the younger professionals in our team.

What does your business do – and what’s your role as owner/founder?

We deliver strategic and creative PR that supports consumer and B2B brands across the UK to reach new audiences and achieve growth.

As founder and co-owner I take the lead on strategy, crisis communications and stakeholder management alongside driving forward new opportunities for Rewired, our clients and our team.

What’s been the most rewarding part of being a female business owner?

At Rewired I'm lucky to be building the business alongside my co-owner, Harj Millington, and we share the same objective: creating an ambitious culture that generates success for our team and clients, whilst creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. It's hugely rewarding to see the benefits of this approach through team and client attraction and retention, as well as the results we deliver.

Have you had a moment where you felt particularly proud to represent women in your sector? What happened?

It's not a specific moment, but more a reflection that there has been a huge shift over my 25-year career in the number of female leaders in business. My first job in PR was for a female-owned and run business, which was hugely inspiring for me, but at that time across our client-base, and in general, women were still in the minority when it came to leadership positions.

Fast forward two decades and we are fortunate to work with and for a large number of female-led organisations. I'm proud that women and men coming into the workforce today are surrounded by strong female role-models.

As a woman in business, what have you learnt?

As a woman in business, I’ve learnt that staying true to your own principles and values is fundamental to being an authentic leader. You can create a supportive, positive environment in the workplace and still deliver ambitious results - in fact I believe the two go hand in hand."
