'Jail or Bail' competition raises vital funds for Midlands charity
Future Faces patron Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) held their 'Jail or Bail' competition at The Dana (Shrewsbury Prison).
The event raised an impressive £27,000 for lifesaving missions, equating to eight air missions and nine critical care car missions.
With the first event taking place in 2021, companies are encouraged to nominate their bosses to spend a night behind bars at one of the most haunted prisons in the UK, with just 24 hours to raise a minimum of £600 bail.
This year 14 bosses took part, including Sarah Bennet from fellow Future Faces Patron Deutsche Bank. The event saw bosses being placed in the stocks, spending time in handcuffs, in the “sweat box”, isolation and the top three fundraisers taking on the Horror Room challenge.
Pam Hodgetts, corporate partnerships manager at MAAC, said: “It is the second time we have run this event and each time I am blown away by both the way the participants embrace the craziness of the whole evening and by the generosity of their family and colleagues when it comes to sponsorship.
“Midlands Air Ambulance Charity receives no government funding for our missions and we rely on donations and charitable giving to raise the £12 million it costs each year to run our service, and corporate relationships play an important part in reaching that figure.
“Not everyone can run marathons or jump out of planes, so this event is a fun way for everyone to get involved; to get their own back on their bosses and to raise money for life saving missions.”
