Kirstin Roberts, waste and sustainability director at Freeths LLP is hosting a networking lunch on 14 September at the 'RWM & Letsrecycle Live ' exhibition at the NEC.

The two-day exhibition, (14 -15 September), historically attracts a combined audience of over 12,000 visitors, with the 2022 event featuring 200+ speakers across nine conference theatres, 150+ CPD accredited sessions and 550+ exhibitors.

Kirstin has worked with businesses in the Waste and Renewables sector for over 17 years, including two six-month secondments with FCC Environmental (one of the UK 's biggest Waste management companies).

Kirstin is also a chartered waste manager with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and chair of the Midlands Centre Council of CIWM.

There has been no shortage of consultations and new regulations for businesses to digest and act upon, such as: the recent consultation on improved reporting of food waste by large food businesses in England, Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) and Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR) rules for the UK, the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity (VCMI) Initiative, as well as the anticipated Biomass strategy.

Kirstin (pictured) said: “I am passionate about the Waste sector and know that I am in a privileged position to really make a difference both to clients and other professionals in the sector.

“Being able to discuss the issues that really impact businesses on a day-to-day level is critical, especially with the current challenges. After an absence of face-to-face meetings in the last couple of years I am looking forward to meeting likeminded professionals in person again ”.

The Freeths networking lunch on the first day of the exhibition will provide an opportunity to network with other professionals who have an interest in waste, recycling, and sustainability and to discuss the current issues and opportunities facing the sector.
