250 years of Midlands history to meet 21st century street food at one-off event

250 years of Midlands history will collide with 21st century street food during a special one-off event at the Black Country Living Museum (BCLM) this June - when the award-winning open air museum hosts Digbeth Dining Club (DDC) to compliment a summer of fun events.

The street food brand has added a Friday, 20 June date at the landmark visitor attraction to its 2025 Summer Tour, bringing nine renowned traders to Dudley and growing its offer for foodies across the Black Country region.

As well as presenting DJs and a bar for the evening, DDC will deliver nine food traders for the spectacular including Birmingham and Black Country staples curry and Caribbean, from Charlie's Fried Chicken, Disco Fries, Flying Cows, Gyro Guys, South Birmingham Curry Club, Esmies Caribbean Fusion, Deathrow Sandwich, Pink Ladies Donuts and Urban Cheesecake.

The evenings, priced at £10, will also see the landmark 1950s Wolverhampton pub The Elephant & Castle, vintage fairground and Hobbs Fish & Chips shop be open and trading throughout evening, plus an immersive experience across the museum with actors playing their parts will bring the spaces and buildings to life.

Jack Brabant, director of Digbeth Dining Club, said: “This will be a unique occasion where we’ll see the Black Country of old meet the best in contemporary food and drink - we’re especially looking forward to seeing what Black Country workers from over the past 250 years including miners make of the latest street food creations!”

Since launching, the Black Country Living Museum’s summer programme has proved to be a hit, with tens of thousands of visitors taking advantage of the extended evenings to explore and enjoy the 29-acre site featuring carefully reconstructed shops, houses and industrial areas.

The much-anticipated DDC Summer Tour includes more than 40 street food events between May and September, feeding people across Birmingham, Solihull, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and more.

The tour will feature Black Country dates including The Waterfront, Brierley Hill (Friday 6 June and Friday 11 July), Bantock Park, Wolverhampton (Saturday 14 June), and Broadway North, Walsall (Saturday 21 June).

Already underway, the programme sees local parks, fields and beauty spots - including Warwick Castle and Compton Verney - packed with an abundance of food vendors cooking up all sorts of delicious street food eats.

The full line up of dates until August has been unveiled, with more to be announced soon. 

The biggest tour calendar to date, Digbeth Dining Club has introduced some brand-new sites for 2025, including Barton Marina in Staffordshire, Attingham Park in Shropshire and Crown Meadow in Evesham.

Now in its eighth year, the Digbeth Dining Club tour has amassed a huge foodie following, with more than 70,000 people attending the street food events every year.
