Academy teacher receives Women in STEM award
WMG Academy Solihull has announced that their Lead for Science, Mrs Saima Hussein, was awarded the Women in STEM accolade at The Education Awards recently.
The awards took place at Millenium Point. The Academy was also nominated in the Secondary School of the Year category.
Speaking about receiving her award, Mrs Hussein said: “I’m truly honoured to receive the Women in STEM Award at the 2025 Midlands Education Awards. This recognition means a great deal, and I’m incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive and inspiring community at WMG Academy.
“To my colleagues and leadership team, your encouragement, collaboration, and belief in our shared mission have been instrumental in this journey. Here’s to continuing to empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators together!”

The WMG Academy Trust operates WMG Academy Coventry and WMG Academy Solihull, with the aim of encouraging young people to study science, technology, engineering and maths.
Working with businesses and the University of Warwick, WMG Academy Trust are able to offer students invaluable opportunities, which are difficult to find anywhere else.
Significant number of students attending WMG Academy go straight on to university, advanced apprenticeships or work.
From the moment they walk through the door at a WMG Academy, students are offered a career-led education involving work placements, interactive industry activities and visits to businesses. Through the Trust’s ‘business-like, business-led’ ethos, students understand how their learning relates to the real world and leave prepared for their future careers.
