Fully-funded leadership programme announced for SMEs
Small businesses across Greater Birmingham are being offered a unique opportunity to strengthen their leadership capabilities through the University of Wolverhampton’s fully funded Strategic Leadership and Management Training Programme.
Delivered in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), this initiative is designed to help SMEs in healthcare, social care, engineering, and manufacturing sectors build resilience and drive growth.
The five-month programme blends in-person workshops, online learning, and practical on-the-job tasks with group leadership coaching.
Eligible businesses can access fully funded places, making this a cost-free investment in leadership development.
West Midlands mayor Richard Parker said: "Everyone should have the opportunity to progress in their career, so we’re investing in leadership and management training to help the leaders of the future reach their full potential.
“That’s good news for our economy and the wider workforce. Good leaders can inspire their employees and put in place the right conditions for improved wellbeing and productivity – a win-win for everyone."
The programme has already achieved impressive results, including a 90 per cent completion rate and engagement from over 70 per cent of participants from underrepresented communities.
Zarah Ahmed, team leader – Health and Social Care at Senad Community Ltd, shared her experience, saying: "The course has had a profound impact on my role.
“Since completing it, I’ve implemented improved communication and delegation strategies, leading to a more cohesive and motivated team.
“Staff engagement has increased, stress levels have reduced, and overall patient care has improved.
“It has also enhanced my problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, equipping me to handle challenging behaviours and compliance issues with confidence."
